Artist's Description
Nickel Plate Road no. 765 is one of the largest operating steam locomotives remaining in the United States. Built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1944, the Berkshire class locomotive spent most of its operating career hauling Nickel Plate Road’s famous fast freights out of Bellevue, Ohio. Today, 765 is owned by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society and operates excursion trains throughout the Midwest during the summer months. Here, 765 is seen charging across Chippewa Creek in Ohio's Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
