Artist's Description
Chicago--The Windy City. Incorporated in 1837, this city of 2.7 million is the third largest in the United States. Chicago is a finance, industry, transportation, and telecommunications hub; it is also famous for its unique architecture, art scene, and music scene. The city rises from the shores of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Chicago River. Chicago is home to such landmarks as the Willis (formerly Sears) tower, the John Hancock Center, Millennium Park, Cloud Gate, Soldier Field, Adler Planetarium, Wrigley Field, Navy Pier, and Chicago Union Station.
This photograph was made on a summer night as a line of clouds passed over Chicago's skyline. I was lucky enough to be there to capture this moment. A beautiful palette of colors was reflected on Lake Michigan, and awesome contrast was created in the sky by these clouds. Moments such as this are rare- making this piece a truly one-of-a-kind take on Chicago's famous skyline.
About Matt Hammerstein
Follow on Instagram @mhammersteinphoto I have enjoyed photography ever since I was young; I have always wanted to get my hands on a camera and take pictures when I see one. When I was 10, I saved up some money and bought my first camera, a Kodak point and shoot. I was instantly hooked. Today, I am enjoying photography as a side endeavor while I pursue a degree in civil engineering. I enjoy producing architectural, nature, and landscape images, especially while hiking and traveling. Many of my images are from trips taken to many parts of the United States. I have galleries featuring photographs of many locations and a wide variety of subjects. Any would look great and provide an eye catching conversation piece for homes, offices, or...
