Description
Evening on the shores of the Athabasca River in Jasper National Park. Jasper is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, and is located in Alberta, approximately three hours west of Edmonton and six hours northwest of Calgary. Jasper is known for the glaciers of the Columbia Icefield, hot springs, its lakes, waterfalls, and mountains, and the the Athabasca River, which runs through much of the park. Near the center of the park is the town of Jasper, a popular ski and vacation destination.
This photo was taken just before the scene was obscured by a bank of heavy wildfire smoke from fires in northern Alberta. The setting sun was framed by the line of trees on the opposite bank of the river, and balanced by the two peaks to the left. A strong wind created waves against the shore of the river, which can be seen in the rocks in the foreground.
This photo is ideal for climbers, backpackers, alpine retreats, mountain businesses, or any fan of alpine scenes. This photo is available as a canvas print, framed print, acrylic print, wood print, metal print, art print, or greeting card. Licensing options are also available: see below.
