A traditional-styled Great Lakes bulk carrier, Herbert C. Jackson entered service for Interlake Steamship Co. on May 14, 1959. At 690 feet long and with a beam of 75 feet, Herbert C. Jackson has a capacity of 24,800 tons. She can haul several types of bulk commodity anywhere on the Great Lakes, including coal, iron ore, sand, and gravel. She is seen here on the St. Marys river approaching the locks at Sault Ste. Marie.
