Artist's Description
Situated in northwest Washington, D.C., Georgetown is a historic neighborhood and commercial district along the Potomac River. Construction of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal began in July 1828, to link Georgetown with Harper's Ferry, Virginia. Georgetown became an important industrial and shipping center, with imports and exports being trans loaded between the canal and ocean-going ships. Today, Georgetown is highly preserved, with historic narrow alleyways and industrial complexes converted into apartments and offices.
About Matt Hammerstein

Many of my images are from trips taken to many parts of the United States. I have galleries featuring photographs of many locations and a wide variety of subjects. Any would look great and provide an eye catching conversation piece for homes, offices, or...
