Description
Spring thaw in the high alpine tundra on Wilcox Pass on the border between Banff and Jasper National Parks. This hiking trail is located near the Columbia Icefields area, adjacent to the Icefields Parkway. Hiking this trail in late May was an amazing experience, with large banks of snow still hanging above the treeline. The Wilcox Pass trail offers expansive views like the one seen here, since it rises above the treeline so quickly. It follows a number of small and large creeks up the pass, one of which is shown here, just beginning to thaw from the winter.
This photo is dominated by the white and blue tones of the sky and snow. Fortunately, we had great clouds on this morning, which add dimension to the photo. This photo is perfect for mountain cabins, or the home, office, or business of a hiker, backpacker, skier, climber, or any outdoor enthusiast. It is available as a framed print, canvas print, metal print, acrylic print, wood print, and more. Licensing options are also available, see below.
